A furisode (振袖, "swinging sleeves") is a style of kimono distinguishable by its long sleeves. Furisode are the most formal style of kimono worn by young unmarried women in Japan. This furisode is made of very fine, brightly colored silk.
Maru obi (丸帯, "one-piece obi") is the most formal obi. It is made from Japanese vintage cloth and is folded around a double lining and sewn together. Maru obi were at their most popular during the Taisho and Meiji periods. The maru obi are worn mostly for wedding kimono, and because of its beauty worn by geishas and maikos. It’s fully patterned and embroidered with metal-coated yarn and foilwork.
